Thank you for joining my inner ink circle! Please care for your fresh ink following your aftercare instructions for the best possible heal. See below for which option applies to you!
Tattoo Armour Aftercare:
1.Leave your tattoo armour on for 48 hours (2 days) and relax.
2. Two days after your appointment, remove your armour (I prefer doing it in the shower) and wash your tattoo using your hand and anti-bacterial soap (Dial is my preferred brand). Pat dry with a fresh paper towel or clean towel (avoid dirty or used bath towels as they may contain bacteria).
3. Moisturize your tattoo as needed with non-scented lotion (Lubriderm or Cetaphil are ideal). A thin layer of lotion like you would apply on regular skin is sufficient. Re-apply any time your ink feels dry, itchy or stings/burns.
4. Your tattoo should do the majority of healing in the first 7-10 days after your appointment. Continue to avoid submerging in bodies of water (i.e. lakes, ocean, rivers) for 6-8 weeks. Keep out of direct sunlight. If you are going to be in the sun or plan on swimming, apply DermShield over the tattoo to create an air tight seal that will protect it. Use sunscreen for your tattoo’s lifespan to preserve it and help it stay bright.
DermShield Only Aftercare:
1.Leave DermShield on for 3-7 days based on comfort.
2. Remove your DermShield by peeling it outward from the skin at a90 degree angle to the skin for easiest results. Tugging and minor discomfort of the skin are normal when removing.
3. Wash your tattoo using your hand and anti-bacterial soap (Dial is my preferred brand). Pat dry with a fresh paper towel or clean towel (avoid dirty or used bath towels as they may contain bacteria).

*I do not recommend use of aquaphor or A&D ointments. The purpose of these ointments is to create an airtight barrier that-prevents dirt and bacteria from getting into your tattoo. They are only needed in the first 24-48 hours following your tattoo if you have not utilized Tattoo Armour or DermShield. Otherwise, they prevent your skin from breathing and healing as efficiently. Non-scented lotion is a much better option during the majority of the healing process.
